Sugar addiction can be hard to beat, but why to stop craving sweets when we have an option. Try this healthy and nutritious recipe of Sweet Chilla which is made from whole wheat flour and jaggery. Yes, it’s made from only 2 ingredients and very easy recipe for quick breakfast or evening snack. You can relish them as it is or with whipped cream or tea.

Jaggery is always a better option to replace sugar. It is loaded with minerals like magnesium, potassium, calcium, etc. and most helpful to increase the immunity. Also it is recommended by doctors to have the jaggery in the diet.

Served Hot & Sweet Chilla

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered jaggery
  • 1 tablespoon fennel seeds(optional)
  • 1 cup water(or as required for batter to get consistency like pouring cream)
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
Ingredients

Recipe

Let’s put the jaggery to melt in the normal water for 10 mins. If you want to melt jaggery instantly then you can use hot water to melt it(make sure don’t boil the jaggery too much by adding water in it on the stove directly, because of which jaggery syrup(गुड़ चचनी) will be made and the chilla could become hard in texture). If you are using hot water then let the water to be heated on the stove first and then add jaggery to melt and put this liquid to be cool down.

Now add wheat flour and fennel seeds(optional) in melted jaggery water and mix them well. Make sure no lumps will be formed and your batter is ready with the consistency like a pouring cream(as I have shown in the video below).

Heat the pan and grease it with ghee. Now pour the batter on the pan and spread it in circular shape on medium flame. Cook the chilla from both sides till golden brown color and crisp. Make sure to cook the chilla on medium or low flame as it will get desired color.

The chilla’s texture should be like a net. Refer the video below to get the steps more clear.
