Mexico’s most famous and my favorite avocado-based dip: Guacamole. An Avocado is a bright green Mexican fruit with a creamy pulp inside and dark leathery skin. Basically it has no taste itself, but when you add this with some other ingredients it becomes delicious. Years ago this fruit was used to make the dip like Guacamole only but now people are using this in multiple recipes like salads, chocolate spreads, beverages, desserts, curries, soups etc.

Avocado has various health benefits. It is rich source of healthy fats. If you are on keto diet, you might have heard about this as this is one of the best ingredient in keto diet. Avocados are incredibly nutritious, good for healthy babies, etc.

Guacamole is mashed avocado with added tomato, onion(preferably sweet onion), cilantro(coriander), chili, lime juice and salt. It is super tasty and very easy to make. It takes only 5 to 7 mins to prepare the Guacamole.

Guacamole with Nachos

Ingredients

  • 3 Avocados
  • 1 chopped Tomato
  • 3 Green Onions or 1 small Onion (I have used green onions because they are little sweet in taste. I would suggest to use green or white onion as the sweetness of onion enhances the taste of Guacamole)
  • 1 Lemon(Here I have used 2 lemons as I am using key limes which are small sized)
  • 1 cup chopped Cilantro(Coriander) leaves
  • 1/2 tablespoon Red Chili powder for taste as it is optional
  • 1 tablespoon Salt(or as per taste)
Ingredients

Recipe

To cut the Avocado, cut lengthwise(vertically) around Avocado using knife. Twist the two halves to separate them. Now place the half part of Avocado which is having the seed in hand. Then with a gentle but quick motion tap the knife on the seed and twist it to remove. Use the large spoon to scoop out the Avocado from the skin or you can easily remove the skin of ripe Avocado by hand. You can refer the video to know more about it or I have shown in picture and video below.

Steps to cut Avocado

Place the cut Avocado in a bowl. Add chopped tomato, onion, cilantro(coriander), red chili powder, salt and lemon juice. Then start mashing the mixture using fork.

Tip: As per my suggestion add all the ingredients before mashing the Avocado. Because when we mash the mixture together, the juices of tomato, onion and lemons will enhance the flavors.

Use fork to mash the Avocado as it will leave your Avocado chunkier which is preferable for Guacamole. A potato masher will give you smoother and creamier consistency which is better as an ingredient in recipes or as a spread.
